We receive news of new arcades opening all year round although not too many seem to happen on the week of Christmas. Still, there are often “out-of-your-control” items that tend to happen – permits, licensing, games not arriving when they were supposed to and so on that can push a grand opening date back.
Starting tomorrow (Tuesday Dec. 23rd) a new arcade by the name of Go Play will open their doors in Belmar, NJ where they are using an entry fee model with the games on free play (this model has become more popular over the past couple of years). $25 for a full day pass, $10 for an hour in Go Play’s case. It looks like they had planned on opening in November but things didn’t shake out quite that way.
Some of the games they will have available include: AfterBurner (upright), Bad Dudes Vs. Dragon Ninja, Big Buck Hunter, Crazy Taxi (sit down), Golden Tee Complete, House of the Dead, Millipede, NFL Blitz ’99, Pac-Man/Galaga combo, Primal Rage, Pump It Up NX, Rampage World Tour, Road Burners (twin), Road Riot 4WD, Rush The Rock, Silver Strike 2009, Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3, WaveRunner SP (twin) and more. they also have a couple of pinball machines including Big Hurt and Tee’d Off.
We wish them the best of luck in their business, I know that there are some similar venues in their area such as Yestercade and Silverball so that means that competition is heating up in the area. That is usually a good thing for customers though so if you are in the area, go check them out!
