Touch Magix To Debut Street Versions Of Dicey Jump and Hop ‘N’ Stack

It’s been a slow arcade news week, but not to worry, Amusement Expo 2022 is just around the corner and that means we’ll have some things to talk about again. Unfortunately we can’t still can’t expect a deluge of announcements as the supply/production problems continue to plague most manufacturers at the moment. That said, some manufacturers I’ve talked to about it, such as Touch Magix, have said that they are in a pretty good spot when it comes to avoiding some of those issues.

Touch Magix announced that they will debut two new versions of existing videmption arcade games today, as the headline to this post says, street operators will now be able to grab Dicey Jump and Hop ‘N’ Stack for their routes. To quote the press release:

These cabinets are designed specifically for the bar and tavern market and the smaller roller skating and bowling center locations, in a bid to give street operators a viable video game option.

If you’re not an arcade operator and are wondering what a “Street version” means, it’s like it says in the quote above – certain locations that are not exactly dubbed as arcades, but tend to have arcades in them, tends to be called “the street.” These locations can also be known as routes, where a small company installs games in the location, absolving the location itself of the cost of buying and maintaining the machines.

Here’s a video showing the two non-street models of these titles. It’s possible you’ve come across them out there in FECs and arcades:

As some of you know, I recently grabbed what I suppose you could call the street version of their SpaceWarp 66 game. It has an Endless Mode om the options where it doesn’t vend tickets, which makes it great for my situation (It also has a Bar Mode, although I’ve not tinkered with that yet). As of this writing, I’ve only had it for a little over a month and it’s already in 19th overall place for earnings (out of 60) among my games at the location for the year, which is quite good for a single player game, and one that didn’t get to register any earnings in January. With a new software update I just received this week, I expect that to go higher, and there is an additional update in the works that could have an interesting effect for it.

The street version of this and Hop ‘N’ Stack will both debut at Amusement Expo 2022 next week; Also stay tuned for a full preview of that event here soon (probably Monday).
