We’ve got another bit of news for a game that will be launching soon to arcades via the exA-Arcadia, one that I’ve spend a bit of time with when at IAAPA by the name of Shadow Gangs X.
If you haven’t watched the video above, Shadow Gangs X is a game made in the style of Sega’s classic Shinobi, Tecmo’s arcade version of Ninja Gaiden and Data East’s Bad Dudes Vs. Dragonninja, all games that were popular side-scrollers in the late 80s. This style of game gave a harder edge to the side-scrolling platformer of the day, most of which were trying to be Super Mario Bros. in one way or another. Being a ninja or a street-tough brawler certainly gave those games a bit of a different feel.
Shadow Gangs is a homage to that, first released on PC and is soon getting a physical release just to arcades through this new edition. Today, exA-Arcadia added a page to their site for the title, which shows the new art above and gave us a new game trailer. If you’re curious as to what the exA version has over the PC one, it adds some polish to the enemies and combat, a playable female character (seen above in the yellow garb), and supports all of the typical features found on an exA title (a real cart, 4K support, 16:9/4:3 aspect ratios, physical posters). Thanks to that new character, the game also features alternating play, so 2-players can take turns.
Like with the recently added Dynamite Bomb!!, no release date has been unveiled for this yet but with all of these updates I imagine they’ll be available for purchase soon. It is also going to be on location test at the Taito Hey in Japan from March 24th through the 30th.
What do you think about this one?
