|
July 23, 2010 – London, United Kingdom – A charity launch party to celebrate the imminent UK Pinball Party where pinball industry legend, designer Dennis Nordman, goes head-to-head with the youthful skills of top-ranked UK junior player, 14-year old Martyn Raison. This entertaining afternoon for sponsors and invited media opens the door to 2010’s largest pinball event.
The Challenge
Taking place at the renowned ‘Ace Café London’, on Thursday August 5th, 2010, from 3-5pm, the ‘2010 UK Pinball Party Charity Challenge’ has been specially organized to offer an opportunity to capture the fun and excitement of the current resurgence in playing Pinball. Thanks to the home cinema revolution leading to the creation of home games rooms and recent articles in the mainstream media a growing number of enthusiasts and celebrities are returning to the lure of the silver ball.
World renowned pinball table designer Dennis Nordman will compete in an intense head-to-head competition with rising UK junior player Martyn Raison to see whether age or experience will be crowned as the “2010 UK Pinball Party Charity Champion”; in anticipation of the forthcoming UK Pinball Party (www.UK Pinball Party.com). This is an excellent opportunity for the media to meet the organizers and sponsors of the August event.
The UK pinball scene has for many years raised funds for children’s charities (including EACH, Incept and Make a Connection) this charitable event follows this tradition by supporting Great Ormond Street Hospital. UK Pinball Party organizer Andrew Heighway said “Pinball’s popularity has been growing steadily over the last few years – particularly through the internet based UK Pinball Group. I am proud to be the organiser of the The UK Pinball Party which will take place on the 13th-15th August 2010 at the Daventry Hotel, Northamptonshire. We have planned the largest show in Europe, a world-class pinball event that will be attended by players and collectors from many countries “
Speaking on the event Andrew explained: “We are flying over the world-famous pinball designer Dennis Nordman from Chicago for the event and he will be our guest of honour over the weekend. Dennis has designed such classic games as Stern’s ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ and the Bally classic “Scared Stiff” – “With over 100 pinball machines to play, machines and spares to buy, tournaments to compete in, pinball seminars and most of all, pinball enthusiasts to chat with – the show promises to be an unmissable event with something for everybody!”
“The UK Pinball Party Charity Challenge’ is the herald for the main event a week later and is an exciting challenge between a pinball industry legend and a junior pinball champion. The UK Pinball Community has a history of supporting children’s charities and we will be raising much-needed funds for Great Ormond Street Hospital via donations and a raffle with prizes that includes a fully working pinball machine!”
This one of a kind launch party will provide a great opportunity to capture some of the action that is the enthusiasm of pinball gaming and collecting for a growing international audience.
