Let’s go into the weekend with an unexpected surprise. As the headline says, Asphalt 9 Legends Arcade DX Plus is now available in North America through LAI Games – we weren’t expecting this one until next month. We’ve also been waiting for news on a few other arcade racers throughout the summer, so it’s nice to get the opposite.

Asphalt 9 Legends Arcade DX Plus – New Cabinet
This major update to the 2021 release of Asphalt Legends 9 Arcade (AL9 I’ll call it) goes with a new cabinet, only maintaining the seat style, but exchanging the monitor side for the type of cabinet that was recently introduced with 3MindWave/Wahlap’s Storm Racer 2. Here’s a comparison, with the new Plus update on the right:
The AL9+ cabinet now has an 85″ 4K screen oriented in portrait style, while the other features (carbon fiber seat on a motion base, wind+vibration effects, force feedback steering) remain the same. Also, these new cabinets can link with Asphalt Moto Blitz DX Plus games, allowing for cross-play on different vehicles and you can have up to eight units linked; otherwise, operators can link up to four units of AL9+. Blitz+ doesn’t have a release date announced for it yet, aside from I was told that it will be at IAAPA. I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s been moved up, but they also could wait a month or two to give AL9+ some room to breathe.
The Game
While the original game had twenty vehicles and four courses, this comes with twenty-three licensed cars (including Lamborghini) and twenty-two tracks, which includes “New York and Scotland.” There are also supposed to be special online events, although those haven’t been detailed at the moment. It has global leaderboards, which is something that we haven’t seen in regards to a racing game for a while. There is also ticket redemption support, if you wish to use that.
I haven’t been able to find out what the price is on these yet, but you can ask your preferred distributor for a quote.
Once the two other racers we’ve been waiting on hit the scene, plus Moto Blitz DX+, then we’re going to have quite a few new options for racers on the market.
Hyper Grid
Along these lines, the Hyper Grid system that was seen at IAAPA 2025 is also available for locations to grab. As far as I am aware, this was the first of the many “pixel pusher” games that all popped up at the IAAPA show last year, where players walk into a room with RGB LED backlit pixel tiles and choose from a variety of mini-games to play, such as The Ground Is Lava (avoid all red tiles) and a few others.
This definitely fits the bill of an attraction, although something that perhaps could be called a small scale attraction instead of a medium or large scale one (not quite arcade machine size, but also not as large as a ropes course or bowling lanes).
The nice thing about it though is that this is not the kind of social gaming experience you’ll get at home with your devices, so if that helps get people into your facility, more power to it!
