Disney offers up a look at ElecTRONica

In March of this year Disney revealed that they would be recreating Flynn’s Arcade in the Tomorrowland part of their parks and today they offered up some concept art of what the area will look like. It will actually feature more than just Flynn’s, as they will be transforming the Hollywood Pictures Backlot into ElecTRONica, a TRON themed area that’s about gaming, dancing, live entertainment and experiencing the world of Tron (the dance thing probably helps explain the parts of the trailers where we see some sort of club setting). Flynn’s will be a part of this but we will have to wait and see what kind of game selection they will have on-hand – it will likely be similar to the Flynn’s setup they had going at Comic-Con although if they could recreate Flynn’s exactly as it was seen in the original movie, then that would be a feat worth checking out all by itself. This will be taking place only at the Disney California Adventure Park, and only on weekends this fall, with exceptions taking place during the weeks of Thanksgiving and Christmas, as a lead-in to the release of the movie. If anyone doubted that Disney is serious about TRON as a franchise before, then there’s little room for such doubts now.

While I’ve not had any plans to visit Disneyland in California anytime soon, admittedly they are making it incredibly tempting to make such plans.

full details can be found at the Disney Parks blog.

Oh wow, I don’t know how I missed the original announcement in March, and can’t wait to check this out! I wonder if they will have any special guests the night of the movie opening.
