I’m feeling a little under-the-weather today so this will be a newsbag that probably could have used a little more time in the oven. I hope you all have a great weekend and next week stay tuned for an interview with Eugene Jarvis about Jurassic Park Arcade.
Soundfighter – This was uploaded this past November, not sure how I missed it until now. This is the least casual way to play Street Fighter, which makes it one of the more impressive:
Level 257 Soft Opening – As you might recall, the Pac-Man Themed Restaurant-cade would be opening in Early 2015. Today, emails have gone out to people where they have been invited to attend the soft-opening of the facility, with news about the grand opening sure to follow. On their Facebook page this week they showed that food stock is in place as well. If you live in or near Schaumburg IL then now you can finally see what this high-end venue is all about.
Restaurant Impossible Visits a Restaurantcade – Speaking of venues with food and arcades, the Food Network TV show called Restaurant: Impossible visited a venue called Bene Pizza and Pasta located in Omaha, NE. The show features a chef who visits failing restaurants and using $10k and tough love attempts to turn them around in a couple of days. For a spoiler on how it went, you can visit this follow-up to the shows visit or if you live in the area, go and check out the venue for yourself. They do not spend a lot of time focused on the arcade since it is about the food and the management but the article linked to above does mention this:
“The arcade does well when we are busy. We have talked to customers and are convinced that it brings customers in because it differentiates us from other pizza restaurants.”
CGR Gets Truxton – If you have watched the online show Classic Game Room then you have probably heard of the game Truxton before. Until now he was enjoying the Sega Genesis version but now he has an arcade board all to himself:

#1 – Gotcha by Atari
#2 – Wonder Boy by Sega
#3 – Marine Date by Taito
For this week
1. Vanguard
2. Actraiser
No idea on any of those games which puts me to shame lol
Oh man truxton used to be my favourite shmup game years ago. The sega version was great but only in the PAL region which is what we have in the UK but for people in America with Ntsc the music played way too fast and I hate it. Whenever I want to listen to the music from the game on youtube it’s always the NTSC version.
#1 SNK’s Vanguard
I loved Actraiser! Such an awesome game. I still have the overworld theme song in my head.
I’ve been playing a lot of old SNES games on my Android phone recently, and have currently pickedActRaiser up again. The best part is that the listing for the sources of life
