We’ve mentioned that Arcadeaholics LLC has been teasing a new product since last week, and today we know what it is.
Unveiled at Pinball Expo 2018 as a part of the VPCabs booth, Arcadeaholics has designed a new cabinet for their multiplayer classic-style arcade title Cosmotrons. While this particular model doesn’t have an official name yet (we’ll just call it the standard model for now), it does allow locations and collectors with a tighter budget to enjoy the same game as found with the larger “Delux-O-Tron” cabinet. Here’s a shot of the cab from the show booth:
The software is exactly the same as with the Delux-O-Tron model, while the design feels a bit more “traditional” for upright arcade cabinets. The unit comes with a 40″ 4K UHD screen, a 10″ subwoofer, and locations can still jump for options such as cup holders and/or the spectator screen. With a smaller footprint, this makes it “a bit more compact but still comfortable for four players” per Shane Gutbrod. Also per Shane: “It still has all four modes (vs, team, boss, single player), all 7 selectable ships, 20+ maps, etc. Most important of course, it still offers great multiplayer memories and opportunities for fist bumps, yelling, and more!”
The Delux-O-Tron was released earlier this year, Arcadeaholics is taking order for both models now. The new model starts at $4995 (plus options, freight, applicable tax, etc.), which allows it to fill in a somewhat lonely area of the arcade pricing market these days.
Here’s the Delux-O-Tron version of the game as seen at California Extreme this past July. I’ll grab video of this new model as soon as I come across it!
I like this cabinet a lot. It looks SO good, and I love that price drop. Is it really any smaller, though? The Delux-O-Tron has a 40-inch monitor, too. Just wondering. I really, really, really like this cabinet. As cool as that Computer Space-esque cabinet was, this is what I dig. Plus, I think the larger marquee and more familiar shape are more conducive to attracting casual players.
Thanks Dustin! We are glad you are a fan of our 2nd style cabinet. And yes, the 2nd style cabinet is more compact with a width that is approximately 10″ skinnier.
