And Your Choice For The Arcade & Pinball Games Of The Decade Are…

News is pretty slow this week and I’ve been hectic busy, so instead of a Newsbytes, we’ll do something that I meant to get to last week – the Games of the Decade results!

The polls closed last week and a little over a hundred readers have spoken. While I would have liked to have seen more participation (given that the site has thousands of followers on social media), it’s better than nothing and the results are results after two weeks of promotion.

Per the poll that we ran on the site, your Video Arcade Game of the Decade is….

Dariusburst Another Chronicle by Taito

A fantastic game released by Taito while the decade was still fresh, this is a worthy title to receive the attention. When it first landed on location test in Japan, it brought people out in droves, making for quite an exciting launch. The game sold well in Japan, but not so much in the West – but well enough that it’s out there and there are console iterations in the form of Dariusburst Chronicle Saviours. If you can though, you’ll want to play this on an arcade machine to really get the full arcade experience.

Your Pinball Game of the Decade is…

Ghostbusters by Stern Pinball

I really wasn’t sure where this one would land, and the poll did garner less attention than the video arcade side, but after the votes, you picked Stern Pinball’s Ghostbusters. I really loved the movies growing up, and while I am not fond of the “Trudeau Gap” on this one (the space between the flippers is little wider than is usual), the game is a lot of fun.

Here’s a video version of this post to show more detail and a more up-to-date showing of Dariusburst Another Chronicle; here’s a link to the Ghostbusters lines video I mentioned:

Thanks for voting and come back next week for more as we wrap up the year in releases and cover the most read posts. I will also be posting a new Arcade Releases page for 2020; I spent a few hours this morning working on the current 2019 one, so check it out!
