Need For Speed Carbon dedicated to be at AMOA

Shaggy September 1, 2008 0

I almost forgot to post about this since we already posted about NFS: Carbon going dedicated but it is one game that will be at AMOA next week. From the press release they reveal one interesting thing about the game – that it has a separate pedal for the NOS so you don’t have to take your hand off the wheel which is a good idea. So that’s some good news but for some bad news, GVR tells me that Justice League will not be at AMOA, which probably means that it will show up at IAAPA. It looks more like IAAPA is going to be the really big event for arcades this year but at least AMOA will have a few things to check out.

Speaking of AMOA while I had no plans on going once again the opportunity might open for me. I am looking at getting a Tsunami Motion Cabinet and it just so happens that the game is down in Las Vegas and the seller may only let go of it if I go down and get it myself. While I’m really not excited about the prospect of driving a truck around Vegas, that could mean that I could coincide the trip with a visit to AMOA. I’ll find out more and let you know if I can make it.

GLOBAL VR® TO SHOWCASE NEED FOR SPEED™ CARBON DEDICATED GAMES AT AMOA

SAN JOSE, Calif – (August 26, 2008) —   GLOBAL VR is proud to announce that the highly anticipated Need for Speed Carbon dedicated games will be formally presented to the coin-op industry at next month’s AMOA Show in Las Vegas.  GLOBAL VR provided a sneak-peek of this stunning game at the AAMA Gala held in Chicago on August 8th where guests of the event were taken by surprise by the extraordinary cabinet design and the in-your-face graphics presentation.

A continuation of the wildly successful Need for Speed franchise series of games, Carbon hits on all cylinders when it comes to game play and is housed in a GLOBAL VR Signature Cabinet. Operators can choose to purchase a Standard cabinet that comes with a 32” LCD display or a Deluxe cabinet that comes with a 42” LCD display, unique attraction marquee and molded side panel that will entice players and add to the immersive experience that is uniquely Carbon.   As added interest for spectators and passers-by, special lighting is synchronized with game play on both the marquee and on rear of the seat. Additionally, GLOBAL VR has installed a NOS pedal on the floor of the cabinet allowing gamers to keep both hands on the wheel as they streak past opponents on their way to the finish line.

“It was the centerpiece of Gala,” stated Elaine Shirley, GLOBAL VR’s Vice President of US Sales.  She went on to state, “The game was played the entire event and comments about the cabinet were nothing less than spectacular.  We can’t wait to bring the game to AMOA to show the industry what exciting GLOBAL VR products are available.”

In July 2008, GLOBAL VR released the Carbon Upgrade Kit which converts previous Need for Speed games to Carbon.  The company has also made plastic accessories available to help update and freshen the look of older game cabinets.  Information on the upgrade and accessories can be found on the GLOBAL VR website.  Orders are currently being taken for all Carbon products including both Deluxe and Standard games.
