It’s been a while since we had a rumor to post about but with the huge industry trade show coming up in just a few weeks called IAAPA, now is certainly a good time to start hearing them. This information was supplied by our partners at The Stinger Report who have proven to be right on target time after time so keep this filed under your “very likely” category. As Kevin Williams passes along to us:
Rumor for IAAPA – Bejewled to be released as a amusement title! The 500million downloaded title and the most successful casual game of its generation to receive an amusement release sources have hinted. With the SEGA Amusements booth linked to leaks that a cabinet will be shown on their booth during the major IAAPA exhibition next month.
This would mean that Bejeweled is following the likes of Fruit Ninja, Infinity Blade and Flight Control from the casual home market into the arcade. Which version of Bejeweled that might be seen is a good question as well since there are several to choose from or they could produce a version that has some unique component to help it stand out in arcades. Sega did send out an email a couple of days ago detailing some of what they would have on hand at their booth which would amount to 15 titles. The email only listed ten games however so Bejeweled could be one of them. Among those they did confirm to be making an appearance: Let’s Go Island 3D, Operation GHOST, Virtua Tennis 4, Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing Arcade and GRID. Bejeweled wouldn’t be out of place for Sega to do, they gave us Tetris Giant not long ago, perhaps they will do Bejeweled Giant as well.
I have already secured my pass for IAAPA and I will be there from the 16th-18th to get my hands on these and whatever else happens to show up there. I imagine that as usual we can expect several other surprises so stay tuned to us around that time!
It will only work,if the game is a prize slot machine, like Stacker or Flame Finger.
