The Hobbit films have been a success for MGM and New Line Cinema so far, nearing $1 billion total in earnings with more to go on the 2nd part, The Desolation of Smaug and even more to come when part 3 hits theaters this Summer. Aside from that meaning we’ll probably never see a single novel made into a single film again, it also is giving Jersey Jack Pinball plenty of time to get their pinball game based on the trilogy completed. Today they sent out this picture which is the first time we’ve seen the whitewood. This is of course an early prototype and changes could always take place prior to production. I have to imagine that some of those additions (aside from the obvious of artwork) will be more lights and of course plenty of toys. This does show us that it is going to be at least a 4 flipper game and the solenoid device to the left could indicate a feature similar to what was seen with Wizard of Oz pinball in the event a pinball falls on the outer lane.
But wait, there’s more! Not that the “pinball games need modern displays” drum needs any extra beating but JJP also has released this video showing some of the assets to be used on their HD displays in the backbox for the game. It just wouldn’t be the same on a low resolution monochrome display; this is looking good so far.
