The first major arcade/amusement industry trade show of the year is now underway in London, UK called EAG Expo. When AH first started the event was called the ATEI Show but the results tend to be the same no matter the name of the event. Here are some pictures from the show, most of them provided by The Stinger Report.
But right before that, here is a video posted from the event by AndyGeezerServices:
If you checked out our IAAPA coverage then some shots may look like they can be interchanged but there are a few new products to be found at EAG, which I will tag with a * next to the product name. Let’s start in alphabetical order of manufacturer:
Adrenaline Amusements
Fruit Ninja FX 2 & Skylanders Cloud Patrol – I’m not really sure why they are doing the figurine thing on Fruit Ninja 2 and not Skylanders since it seems like it should be the other way around but still it is good to see some unconventional ideas being given a try. Jetpack Joyride Arcade was also at the AA booth.
Bandai Namco
Deadstorm Pirates Special Edition* – Well that was fast. It made sense that this would get an upgrade and this is the first confirmation that the new update to DSP would be coming West. Interesting that it was shown in Europe before the Japanese show so I imagine Namco will be making a strong push on the software.
Mario Kart Arcade GP DX – In case European arcade fans were wondering if the latest arcade exlcusive Mario Kart would make its way to their regions, here is confirmation of that. Interesting how the banner mentions the previous MK2 entry as well as the ES3 hardware. My understanding is that is a PC-based model, as opposed to an enhanced WiiU. Bonus pic of Kevin Williams having fun with the Namcam avatar system..
Mach Storm and Super Alpine Racer – I would be good to know if Super Alpine Racer is going to have that LED marquee or not. At least we know it should have the wind effects.
Dead Heat Riders & Dead Heat–
Elsaco Motion
I saw people showing this on Facebook a bit, yet another racing motion simulator.
Jersey Jack Pinball
Wizard of Oz Pinball (various) – Nothing super new here; picture from the FB page of JJP.
Raw Thrills
Aliens Armageddon – On Facebook I heard this described as a “faster paced Terminator Salvation”. Obviously TS was a winning formula; at my own arcade I’ve had it for 4 years and its still always in my top three games. I’ve been trying to get some direct screenshots of Aliens but have had to wait in part because of EAG.
Batman – Given the amount of coverage this game has received on AH, not sure if there is anything else I can add here 😉
Sega
Transformers: Human Alliance – I had a chance to play this recently and I’ve not really heard this from anywhere else so it might just be the cabinet I played but the gun was way too tight. It made it feel like you were fighting the gun at times (especially during boss battles) which means that kids will have a much harder time; but I think it was the cabinet I played it on as I have asked others and they said the complete opposite was their experience.
Plants Vs Zombies: The Last Stand* – When this game appeared at IAAPA 2013, Sega had some “No Pictures” signs on the games but we still got a look anyways. Seems there is no such restriction at EAG’14. I can’t tell if there are any differences between the games at the shows by this picture but notice they are also going to do a PvZ whack-a-mole style game too (which is what the asterisk is for)
Storm Racer G – As mentioned on AH previously, Wahlap’s sequel driving game would be at the Sega booth.
Storm Riders – Also from Wahlap/Sega to compete with Namco’s new Dead Heat Riders. Can’t say I care for the cabinet design since its obviously trying to fool people into thinking its Super Bikes 2. I mean, at the very least change the color. Otherwise I imagine my first experience with the game will probably happen at Amusement Expo in March.
Hello Kitty Air Hockey* (Barron Games) – Barron Games was at the Sega booth showing off their new Hello Kitty JR. air hockey table. While made for kids, looks like adults had fun with it too. Got this from the Barron Games FB page.
BugBot Catcher (IRRobot) – I believe this was at IAAPA but not 100% sure, looks like this new robot game was at the Sega booth.
Step Evolution
ReRave Plus – I still need to get more details on what makes this different, along with song changes, kit details, etc.
Stern Pinball
AC/DC Luci* & Star Trek – Previously announced, the Luci model is available now for anyone that felt that they missed out on one of the other Limited AC/DC editions.
ZeroPlus
Shooting Sports Rapid Fire Pistol* – At IAAPA they were showing this as a kit but here we have the dedicated cabinet. Shooting gallery style light-gun game.
If anything else pops up, we’ll be sure to share.
Kevin Williams looks funny! The Hello Kitty air hockey game, and Bugbot catcher are cute!
I hope the transformers games gun is a one off with the stiff controls, no way especially kids will find it fun if the gun is hard to control, it be a shame as I’m really excited to play this.
Glad rawthrills has made a mounted gun version of aliens game as I find the light on terminator salvation to be faulty on numerous machine with inaccurate aim. So I take it from the pictures that is the final version of super alpine racer, looks better than the previous pic.
I knew the dead storm pirates update would come here but not that quick though lol, is their any new info on the game yet?
The cabinet shown at EAG for Super Alpine Racer is not the final version. The final production version will not have the LED marquee.
I think its a one off. I’ve asked others and they say that Transformers’ guns are loose and easy to aim
Does Mario Kart GP DX have the card/Banapass system intact for its western release?
I was at my local D&B yesterday and they had 4 Mario Kart GP DX and I didn’t see the card/Bandapass system on them. They were all turned off/not operating so I don’t really have much more to say about the game. I’ll try to get back there in the next few days in hopes that they are up and running.
Here’s to hoping all of their locations pick up the title!
