As you’ve seen, news has been pretty slow the past week but as we head into the last week of April, we finally have something. Arcade developer Play Mechanix has launched a new program to promote their popular Big Buck Hunter series with the Official Big Buck Game Wardens. Currently spanning various areas in the US, the email sent out to announce their leagues describe the program as follows:
The inaugural Big Buck Hunter Game Wardens have been selected and are working hard in their hometowns to set up tournaments, rally Big Buck Hunter fans, and spread the word about everything Big Buck Hunter! Their enthusiasm is catching like wildfire and their excitement is completely contagious. With plans of a BIG 2015 World Championship, Official Game Wardens are helping fuel the fun for Big Buck Hunter fans and players everywhere. Get to know the Game Wardens in your area for the chance to earn cash, prizes, and enjoy competing in a league for the game you love!
I am not aware of a program like this existing to promote a single arcade game before so in that historical context it is significant. Here is a list of the wardens and the emails to join their leagues if you are interested. The World Championship Qualifiers are starting on May 1st and with this warden effort, the Championship could certainly be the biggest arcade tournament we’ve ever seen.
