When I heard about the Rampage movie today (starring Dwanye Johnson, AKA The Rock), I wasn’t sure if that warranted a post but then Kevin Williams of The Stinger Report sent me this link where Bandai Namco Entertainment did to promote the IAAPA Asian Attractions Expo that took place last week. Apart from the quirky weirdness it offers, you can see several new games in the background – Time Crisis 5, Tekken 7 and even Pokken Tournament. This doesn’t indicate anything for Western markets so this is just here for entertainment 😛
What are your thoughts on the idea of a new Rampage movie? I’ve seen some outlets using game console artwork from one of those releases but this was an arcade game first. The announcement of an actor attached to the project, especially one that is so well know means that it is further along in development than Asteroids, Joust, or Missile Command. I imagine it will be a Godzilla style movie hyped up on steroids (3 monsters smashing their way across the country – seems like the perfect disaster movie fodder) but we’ll have to wait and see.
UPDATE: Here is another video from that trade show that just popped up onto Youtube, showing more of the products that were there. Apart from some unknown Chinese games, nothing we haven’t heard of for the coin-op market but some new stuff for other aspects of the amusement industry, such as the “shapie” 3D selfie tech.
