Sega Releases House Of The Dead Scarlet Dawn In Japan

Back in January of this year, big news hit the web of a return to the House of the Dead franchise with the reveal of House of the Dead Scarlet Dawn. Since then, we’ve been receiving a somewhat steady stream of news about the game, mainly through the location tests that have been taking place in Japan.

JAEPO 2018 was also a time for information on the game, including this trailer:

The last major piece of news that we had heard about the game for Western shores was that Dave & Busters and some other companies had placed orders to get their hands on the game in time for Fall. Sega stated at the time that their goal was to have units shipping by the end of September/beginning of October.

Today, Sega Japan announced that the game is officially shipping for the Japanese market. This included a major update to the Scarlet Dawn website, where we have this new trailer to watch among many other game assets. I have reached out to Sega for comment on the Western release and received an update at 12:40PM MST. The Sega Amusements International rep I spoke with through e-mail confirmed that the Western version is not “shipping yet,” but it will be coming soon. He also confirmed that there are no Aime features for us in the Western market.

Other assets found on the HODSD website include pictures of the 23 enemies and 3 of the bosses, including Chariot and Bruce the Rocker Zombie:

Even if units aren’t shipping out West right at this moment, it is coming soon so fans just have to hang tight!

I find it odd that they said the Western version hadn’t shipped yet. I called the Nashville D&B and the employee said, “I think we’re getting it next week.” I probably should have asked to speak to a manager, lol.

It will have “normal”, “master” and “special” mode (see website). Master mode is free weapon choice, and I’m very curious what’s behind special mode.

I hope this comes to Europe.

Hoping this game performs well for them and that we hopefully get a console + PC port in the near future. Would REALLY like something like a HOTD JRPG-style thing, but the battles would be like segments from the rail shooter, accuracy determining Exp you get after battles, strong horror-like vibes exploring around.

Make it an AM1 + Atlus affair, I’d be so down for something like that in the HOTD universe.
