Thanks to a spy named Charlie, we have more direct photos and footage from JAEPO 2018 today and don’t have to rely almost exclusively on Twitter for news. That said, we’ll still have some tweets to share.
Also, I have created a group on Facebook for Arcade Heroes. I kind of don’t get why they have pages and groups now since it seems that pages rarely tell you when they’ve been updated while Groups serve practically the same purpose but it actually informs users as to updates <shrugs>. As a reminder, we also have a group on Mewe in the event that FB isn’t your thing as well as Twitter.
Footage From JAEPO 2018
Thanks to Charlie for capturing this footage of various games in action:
Next to PONG Table was an original Atari PONG video game as well:
In case anyone was curious about the desire for new shoot ’em ups in Japan…
Wangan Midnight Maximum Tune 6 (Bandai Namco)
I’ve not heard an announcement about the Western release for this yet but I imagine we’ll hear something at IAAPA 2018 in November.
Starwing Paradox (Square Enix)
This one has been mentioned on the site a couple of times this past week and it seems to have grabbed a lot of attention at the show. I wonder when the West will be ready for battle arena style games again…
INFINOS EXA (exA-Arcadia)
The newly-announced INFINOS EXA brings two horizontal shoot ’em ups and one vertical to Exa-Arcadia’s new kit. But don’t fret, as their head has said that the the hardware has other genres in the works including beat ’em ups, fighters, puzzle and sports games.
Konami Arcade Championship 9th
I believe that the USA has done very well this year once again although I have not been able to follow all of the developments as I’ve been trying to get to everything else. Bemanistyle has been covering the KAC in detail; if you have almost 8 hours to spare, here’s some live footage:
House Of The Dead Scarlet Dawn (Sega)
Charlie said that Sega was being very restrictive on filming so he was unable to film the inside of the game but what he could capture is on that video above. Here are a few pics:
And here’s some of the HOTD “schwag” that Sega is handing out.
Bandai Namco Technica
Looks like someone is trying to make a play at Western style redemption in Japan. This part of Namco had products from Andamiro, Adrenaline Amusements and others:
Raw Thrills as well:
Bombergirl (Konami)
This one is seen in the video at the top but here’s a photo of the area:
O.N.G.E.K.I. (Sega)
Brought to you by the same team that gave the world MaiMai and Chunithm.
Densha De GO!!! (Taito)
Still simulating the life of a Japanese train conductor unlike any other game on the market:
Sega World Drivers Championship
Still unsure if this is Western bound but it hits Japan next month:
StarHorse 3 (Sega)
Raise your glasses in remembrance of Sega’s Derby Owners Club…
Virtual Reality (VR) – Tower Tag (Sega) & VR Soccer (Taito)
We’ll leave this time with this walking Don Chan. I bet this person’s arms & legs weren’t feeling too hot after doing this for a few…
Maximum Tune 6? I’m dying to play one of these when it’s released in the States! Maximum Tune 5 made me get into Maximum Tune games and Wangan Midnight source material!
Hmm, I was thinking about a good simulation, but the video doesn’t look so. Watch the tunnel collisions, they don’t affect the car in a realistic way.
Wangan Midnight isn’t a simulation.
