Back at IAAPA 2016, I had the chance to try out a new Virtual Reality amusement setup by Virtuix and Universal Space called the Omni Arena. Using Virtuix’s innovative multi-directional treadmill design and player harnesses, this allows for users to “walk in place” for VR games. This is particularly helpful in first person shooters; the IAAPA setup had an arena battle demo where you had to defend a core from being destroyed.
UNIS Opens VR Amusement Division, “Fun VR Tech”
Now to solidify that relationship, UNIS and Virtuix have announced a partnership to further expand the success that they have had with the Omni Arena in China so far. This will include single Omni amusement setups as well as the 2-player and the 5-player models. Here is a picture of the 2-player setup:

According tot he press release (placed below), the arenas are for sale now. The Fun VR Tech division has a placeholder site up at the moment, we’ll keep an eye on it for an update.

For immediate release:
AUSTIN (February 25, 2017) – Virtuix, the leader in active virtual reality and the developer of the popular Omni motion platform, today announced that it has launched a partnership with Fun VR Tech, a new division of Universal Space (UNIS) created to distribute Active VR experiences to the commercial entertainment market. The partnership is an expansion of Virtuix’s successful collaboration with UNIS in China, where it has installed dozens of its Omni Arena gaming attraction.
“Our partnership with UNIS in China has exceeded our expectations,” says Jan Goetgeluk, founder and CEO of Virtuix. “UNIS has long standing expertise in the commercial entertainment market and has installed the Omni as part of their amusement packages in VR Arcades, Family Entertainment Centers, and shopping malls. While we are still fulfilling the remainder of our U.S. Kickstarter and Pre-Order packages, Fun VR Tech represents an opportunity for us to expand our successful UNIS partnership and make the Omni available to the digital out-of-home entertainment market globally.”
In addition to its Omni Arena packages, which contain either two or five Omnis, Fun VR Tech will also sell single Omni setups. “Fun VR Tech hopes to make active VR of this kind widely available, allowing professionals and commercial entertainment businesses to take full advantage of this technological marvel,” said Steven Tan, General Manager of UNIS.
Fun VR Tech has started selling its Omni Arena attraction in North America and South America with plans to expand to additional global markets in the future. Businesses interested in learning more about Fun VR Tech offerings can get additional information at www.funvrtech.com.
